Back in Sweden!

I am back in Sweden. Back to my Hubby whom I have missed so much for the past 28 days. Yay!

Am very jet lagged right now. I hope to be back soon. Had an awesome time in Singapore. Feeling rejuvenated after the much needed vacation.

Hugs!

My nail interest: Konad nail art & gel nails

I have this sudden interest in nails after I stumbled upon a store at Far East Plaza (Singapore) that sells Konad stamping nail art a couple of days ago. I was so excited and very hyped to try it out. So I went ahead and bought a couple of special nail polishes, image plates, stamping tool, etc.

I am so glad I bought them because it is so fun to use. I did my mum's nails and my own. It is so easy to use. It's like getting your nails done with art work at a faction of a price at home.

As you all know, I am living in Sweden, sadly everything there is freaking expensive. That means I would have to pay 3 times more to get a mani/pedicure done in a salon compared to Singapore. Also, I have realized that Sweden does not carry many brands that other countries have( Kinda backwards with beautry tech/trends). So now that I am in Singapore for vacation, I stock up on things that interest me very much. That way, I will not feel left out with updated beauty trends.

So here is my 1st try with Konad stamping (even added rhinestones to bling up the nail).

Please forgive the ugly nail polish application.

Today, I got my gel nails done. I have never tried this ever before. Since I was in the Army for 10 years, I was never allowed to paint and have long nails. It was against the rules and regulations. Thus I would only paint my toe nails as they are always hidden away in army boots.

Now that I am no longer in the Army, I have all the freedom to try out things that I never was allowed do and use before. It's like giving a kid candy. That is how happy I am with my new gel nails.

The good thing with it is that I can paint nail polish over (if I want a change of colour to match my outfit of something). The down side is that I will have to get them touched up by a professional when my nails grow out. I hope this gel nail system is available in Sweden (Uppsala). Fingers crossed!

Here are the pictures.

(for once I feel like my nails look nice! Never really liked my natural nails as they are quite brittle and they never grow long!)

I can't stop looking at my nails. It feels like Christmas with these nails!

Hahaha! I am such a kid sometimes!

Do you guys have any tips on how I should maintain gel nails? I would love to hear them!

Thanks for coming by darlings!

(Have another 7 more days in Singapore before I go back to Sweden! I am going to miss Singapore very much!)

FOTD - Brown eye liner with Morange lips

My look of the day! Super easy, suitable for hot and humid climate countries. If you want a pop of colour go for Mac Morange lipstick. Pretty orange for brown skinned divas!

I am enjoying the Sun. It has made a huge difference in my mood and how I feel about myself. In Sweden, I was very down most of the time. I reckon it was the lack of Sun light and the cold.

Even though I love the Sun, I do know the damage it can cause to my skin. So I always make sure to wear sunscreen. I hope you do too!

Update: About 'Eve Pearl products and refund'

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to update you guys about the 'Bad experience with Eve pearl' matter. I was contacted by the company regarding the matter. We have agreed to resolve this amicably. I was refunded the amount for the items that I shipped back to them and also the shipping cost as well. I think they took responsibility and did their part. With all said, I did not receive an apology for the way I was treated by Eve Pearl. I guess some are not that 'humble' after all.

I would like to thank all of my wonderful Youtube viewers and blog followers for all your wonderful & encouraging comments. You guys are awesome!

My experience with this company should not deter you from buying anything from them. You should do your own research and make own decision. As I have said several times, I am not an expert in determining whether the products has bacteria or not. However, to me it's a no-go when there are spots on cream products that don't look normal.

Anyway, it's time to move on. I don't want to dwell in the past.

Thanks and see ya soon!

Product Review : Revlon colorstay eyeliner

It's review time. This time it's revlon colorstay eyeliner. I got two liners, one in black and the other in navy blue.

Reason for buying this was plainly because I was and still am in search of a good eye pencil that does not smear or smudge.

I just hate looking like a panda bear after a long day. I have watery eyes and it's worst during Winter when it snows like crazy. Also when the weather is humid (like Singapore), my eyes get oily.

I waited till I was in Singapore to purchase this as in Sweden everything is like 3 times more expensive and It would not make sense for me to spend so much on a drugstore brand.

In Singapore this eyeliner retails at around SGD$13.00 - SGD$15.90. I got mine at Mustafa centre at $13.90. To me that was a good deal for something that I was not really sure about.

Now for my true, honest and unbias opinion about this eye liner.

Pros
1) As it says, it is colorstay. It does not smudge at all, even after 9 hours of walking and perspiring.
2) Comes with a mini sharpener on the other end.
3) Comes in 6 colours. I got only two (Black & Navy Blue) so I can only show you swatches of the two.
4) Waterproof so it would be great for those who love swimming, walking in the rain and many more fun activities (*wink*).
5) Don't need to sharpen as it comes in a retractable/twistable body. Even though it comes with a sharpener, I don't see a need to sharpen.

Cons
1) It's not pigmented enough for me. (I am comparing it to MAC Feline, I like my khols really pigmented)
2) Needs a little more pressure for the eyeliner to show on the waterline. I am not very comfortable with that as it can hurt if it's too much pressure.
3) To remove it, you need a oil based eye makeup remover. Water does not work with this.

Overall rating would be : 3.5/5

Conclusion : Even though it did not smudge or smear or fade, I wish it was a really pigmented and glided on the waterline easily. Thus, my search for a good eyeliner continues.....

Hope you find this review useful.

Let me know you thoughts about this product and feel free to recommend eyeliners that you think might work for my oily/watery eyes.

Ciao darlings!

Shopping time - MUFE haul, Indian Sari haul & other rambles

I had so much fun window shopping and shopping. It was fun doing it with my Mum. She has good eye for colour. So yesterday, we went to Little India (a street where you can find anything Indian, eg spices, clothes, accessories, etc... I love this place, love all the smell and colours). I wanted to buy a Sari so we went to a Sari boutique.

These were the 3 Sarees that made me all excited. You may not see excitement in my face, that's because the salesman was rambling away and I was trying to listen to what he was saying. I can understand Tamil but I can't understand when spoken with a slang which is very common from Native South Indians. I know it sounds weird! Oh well, I am weird .... sometimes! :)

1. Maroon colour with antique gold sequins/artwork

2. Deep green with pewter gold sequins/artwork

3. Dual toned blue/purple with rose gold artwork

Now guess which one of the above I bought. I want to know what you guys think of the colours and which one looks pretty to you...

I bought the sari no.1! It was my Mama's choice.

Do you think it was a good choice?

Anyways, I also went to Makeup forever and two products form them.

1. MUFE HD primer #01 - SGD65.00
2. All Mat Face primer - SGD78.00 (Got one for my Mummy as well)

I am so excited to try them and do a review. I think I am in the right country(hot and humid Singapore) to try products that claim to matify the face. If it works well here, I am sure it will work well in other not so humid countries. It has always been a challenge finding the right matifying primer that works. I have oily t-zone. Anyway, I will do a review as soon as I am done with testing the above two.

After the disappointment with Eve Pearl cosmetics purchase, I told myself that I will only buy products that are well established like MAC, MUFE, Urban Decay, etc...

Anyway, with regards to Eve Pearl saga, I was contacted by the company after I sent out the (unfit for use) products back to them. They did not apologize for the way they treated me but they admitted that the email that they claimed to have sent to me, was not sent after further investigation. Seriously, they need to improve their system. Oh well, it's water under the bridge. Just waiting for my refund and I just want to move on. Even thought they have made a video explaining about the spots and stuff recently, I am still  not convinced and that is not going to change my opinion about them as a company. I will do a video response soon after I receive the refund from them. So stay tuned for that!

It feels great to be back in Singapore! The sun really makes a difference in my mood! Even my husband said that I looked happy while we chatted on Skype!

Ok, now it's lunch time here, I am going to have my Mum's home cooked lamb curry with cucumber salad now. Yum Yum!

(By the time my vacation is over in Singapore, I think I will return to Sweden as a chubby Uma! hahaha!)

Happy New Year 2011!

Thank you so much for all your kind support and encouragement. I wish all of you a very Happy 2011! May this year bring loads of joy, happiness, good health and success to all of us!

I hope this year, I can spend more time on blogging and making videos on Youtube. I may even do some cooking videos, since they are highly requested. This is my goal for 2011. I am not going to list my resolutions here as I don't want to bore you. However, this will give me an excuse to blog about it when I get to doing and accomplishing them.

When I look back at 2010, I am glad it is over as it was a tough year for me. Moving across the globe and starting life in a new environment is a big deal and it has not been easy. I am glad I had that opportunity that many can only dream of.

I am truly blessed to have a wonderful partner who has been a huge support during both my good and bad times. Thank you Husband for your love! I don't know what I will do without you!

2011 is going to be an awesome year!

Cheers :)
